CrossFit 4 Men

Gentlemen,

CrossFit IS NOT a cardio-based “bootcamp” workout. We DO NOT perform countless repetitions with 5lb fluorescent plastic coated neoprene dumbbells. You’ll NEVER hear me say “feel the burn!”

CrossFit is brutal. THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THIS IN MEDFORD. Our standards are high, we seek quality individuals. We lift real weights frequently and with great intensity. We incorporate elements of competitive Powerlifting, Olympic Weightlifting, and Strongman competitions. We push, pull, throw, row, climb, crawl, sprint and jump – much like a decathlete.

CrossFit is the “Sport of Fitness” and as such you will be required to focus on the dynamic elements of athleticism, including balance, coordination, speed, power, endurance, and accuracy. This is the strength and conditioning program of choice for Mixed Martial Arts, S.W.A.T., Navy Seals, and elite sports worldwide. Quite frankly, this program will humble you … quickly … and without prejudice … period. But, you’ll love it because you’ve never worked out this hard!

CrossFit 4 Women:

Ladies,

Yes, CrossFit can be tough. Yes, we lift weights frequently and with great intensity. Yes, we have very high standards. Yes, we require our participants to master the art of bodyweight exercises, including push-ups, pull-ups, dips, and one-legged squats. Yes, we Powerlift, we perform Olympic Weightlifting, and Strongman exercises.

Honestly, many of our clients were hesitant to try CrossFit. They watched our workouts and videos and they had reservations. The exercises require concentration and practice, every muscle in your body has to work to maintain proper form, you can’t give up or you won’t make it through a single workout … but you know what … that’s why it works!

The funny thing is more than half of our clientele is female. CrossFit IS intimidating, and for that very reason when you jump in and begin to master the elements it is incredibly empowering and rewarding. For the first time since you began working out you feel as though you’ve actually accomplished something!

No other studio in Medford is equipped like this to deliver CrossFit. You’ll be participating in activities that you would otherwise NEVER have the chance to experience, and you’ll be amazed at the results you can achieve in 1-hr each day.

Let me assure you that CrossFit is NOT:
* A bodybuilding program focused on gaining muscle mass
* An aerobics program focused on low-intensity limited range of motion activities
* Too hard for you to try – everything is scalable
* BORING!

Check out the rest of the website and decide if CrossFit is a new leaf you would like to turn over.  The results are amazing and the rewards even greater.  Give it a try!!!

New Government Fitness Standards.

Posted in Uncategorized on May 21, 2008 by crossfitallegiance

This article was posted in the Mail Tribune yesterday.  Wow what standards our government has for fitness.  Where is the functionality? Where are the squats?  The posterior chain work?  I challenge all my baby boomers lets do their fitness test and blow them out of the water.  Show them what CrossFit can do at any age.
Government to unveil fitness test for adults

WASHINGTON — If you didn’t get a Presidential Physical Fitness Award in school, the government is giving you another chance to prove you’re in shape.

An adult fitness test is being introduced Wednesday by the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. It will incorporate several of the exercises that millions of students undertake each year as they aim for a certificate signed by the president.

“What we’re trying to do is inspire and motivate Americans to move their bodies more,” said Melissa Johnson, executive director of the council.

The test involves three basic components: aerobic fitness, muscular strength and flexibility. The test is for people 18 and older who are in good health. It was inspired by scores of baby boomers who kept asking council members whether there was a fitness test available today that was similar to the ones they took as students, Johnson said.

The aerobic component of the tests consists of a one-mile walk or 1.5-mile run. The run is not recommended for those who don’t run for at least 20 minutes, three times a week.

Push-ups and half sit-ups make up the strength test. The push-ups are done until failure. The sit-ups are done for one minute.

A stretching exercise called the “sit-and-reach” is used to measure flexibility.

The scores from all four of the fitness tests can be entered online. Other information, such as age, gender, height and weight also are part of the equation.

You won’t get a presidential certificate, but the results will then show where you rank among people of the same age. For example, if someone scores in the 75th percentile for push-ups, that means 75 percent of the scores fall below your score.

The fitness test incorporates height and weight to give participants their body mass index. Generally, a BMI score above 25 equates to being overweight. However, for people who do exercise a lot, the BMI score can be high because of their extra muscle mass, not because they have too much fat.

The test will allow people to easily record a baseline that they can work from through their exercise routine.

“The point is to do consistent, regular physical activity and these are good check-in points to see how fit people are,” Johnson said.
